Bamboo was designed to make data analysis of dynamic (changing) data accessible to non-technical users. We wanted to build on the success of Formhub, empowering local practitioners not just to collect data, but also to analyze this data themselves. I contributed to the design, vision, and communications of bamboo (including development of front-end applications that used bamboo); back-end software development was done by P. Lubell Doughtie and Mark Johnson.
Bamboo is no longer in active development. While its feature list was extremely desirable, it was discontinued after a year of development did not meet the funding project’s goals. In the end, we learned that big pieces of engineering without short term outputs are not a great fit in our project-funded structure.
